| LONG EATON STATION |
Road, Rail and even Waterways form gateways to the Borough and should be looked after with care. Long Eaton Station is a gateway to the Borough but it is hardly an image that strikes the eye favourably. I would like to see a sprucing up of the whole Station area. The Station should aim to give a pleasing impression when entering or leaving Erewash, but I don't believe it does that. You never get a second chance to make a first impression and that goes for stations as well as people. More effort is needed by all concerned to spruce up our "gateways", including Long Eaton Station.
Can only agree, I use the station on a more or less daily basis, and it's a fairly dispiriting site. The only thing in it's favour is a good sized car park.
ReplyDeleteI have seen rural stations with lovely flower displays and then I see Long Eaton. It is such a let down for Long Eaton.
ReplyDeleteThese days railway stations are designed to be 'practical' not 'pretty'. The days when the station master, who often used to live on site, tending hanging baskets and window box's is long since gone.
ReplyDeleteOK we don't expect something like this http://www.tournorfolk.co.uk/wymondham/wymondhamstationplatform.jpg but something a little bit more welcoming could be achieved.
Get local children involved in the design and decoration to give this drab station a local identity.
