A DISGRACE |
It's been an uphill battle getting Erewash to get to grips with the problem of litter. I have put in complaint after complaint and it's had some effect. However there are still areas that are prominent in the local street scene but are regularly an eyesore. As you turn into Bennett Street, Long Eaton, either side are areas of private land very badly littered. Other businesses in the area selling food for instance may be detrimentally effected by the image given by this mess. The Council should be hot on the trail of careless landowners.
Where is the pride in Erewash? This sort of mess doesn't happen overnight so why no action by the Council? Could it be Erewash just doesn't care?
I feel it's just how people are today. It's always someone else’s problem.
ReplyDeleteIndustrial and retail waste do appear to be on the increase in this area and on some days the town centre with all it's closed shops and rubbish looks like a shanty town. Having said that I did see a local warden follow a young lady into a card shop the other day and bring her out to pick up a cigarette butt she had snubbed out on the pavement.
More litter bins that are regulatory emptied would be great as in once a day or once a week as required.
It's not just the people of Erewash who spoil the area. Whilst walking the dog we often have to avoid broken glass from bear bottles apparently thrown from cars.
In order to clean up Erewash we need to clean up the manners of some of it's residents !
