BIN BUT NOT GONE

NOT A PRETTY SIGHT

Two days in succession, whilst out walking the dog, I have noticed a dog droppings bin full and overflowing. A passer-by remarked that all the Borough bins were emptied by one person and he implied that wasn't enough. It does seem too much of a task and Erewash ought to look at how the service can be improved.

  1. “ We're No 1 for numbers two's ” That's the slogan on our local bin.

Firstly lets say well done to the dog owners who filled the bin in the first place but what's the point if there are not adequate resources to empty them.

Things like litter bins, street lights, pedestrian barriers etc. have a 'whole life cost' and the council need to take that into account. It's not rocket science !

Perhaps if more irresponsible dog owners were fined for their dogs fouling the footpaths the money could be used to employ another bin cleaner.

  2. Last year Nottingham City for one day only had its own 'Dog Poo Fairy'. The Fairy turedn dog poos pink, making them easy for the Council to see and remove !

They also have the 'Poover' - a specially adapted motorbike that sucks up dog dirt and sanitises the area. http://crave.cnet.co.uk/cartech/poover-pooper-scooter-cleans-up-islington-49304322/
