OUR FLAG LET DOWN

Erewash decided to fly the Union Flag outside the Civic Offices at Ilkeston and Long Eaton on a regular basis not as previously, just on special occasions. At the time I asked  Councillor Corbett to make sure the Flag was kept in good condition. He assured me it would be. I hate to see our Flag degraded by being dirty or damaged. Many months ago I wrote in a complaint to Erewash about the poor state of the Flag at Long Eaton asking for a new one to be raised. Despite my complaint the Flag has been left tattered and looking dirty. Erewash should be ashamed to treat our Flag so disrespectfully. So much for Councillor Corbett's assurances.

  1. Please advise Councillor Corbett you can get a hard wearing flag for about £20 off the internet http://www.theflagshop.co.uk/union-jack-flag---nylon-3678-p.asp

They are made from 210 denier, nylon fabric, measure five feet by three feet, 152cm x 91cm, and have two brass eyelets / grommets for hanging from a flag pole. It's dye printed making it colour-fast, double stitched all around, with four rows of stitching on the fly.

You can also get flags with a support that allows it to 'fly' in with zero wind. The state of the one in Long Eaton is a disgrace …. it looks like a tatty rag not a symbol of this once great union.
